Abstract:
The Indian freedom struggle was a multi-dimensional movement, combining political, social, and economic objectives. Within this context, socialist ideology exerted a profound influence on the trajectory, methods, and objectives of the nationalist movement between 1917 and 1947. Socialism in India was not merely a set of economic prescriptions imported from Europe; it was a contextualized framework that addressed the unique social hierarchies, economic inequalities, and cultural particularities of Indian society. This chapter explores the impact of socialist ideology across four major dimensions: ideological influence, organizational strategies, social mobilization, and contributions to post-independence policy frameworks.
Keywords: socialist ideology, Social Mobilization, Nationalism.
