Growth of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients in India: Key Issues

Author(s): Sourav Adak

Abstract: Fostering an environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship in the search for new APIs is essential for India to establish itself as a major global player in this field. India should enact policies that provide incentives for research and development in the pharmaceutical sector. This could include tax breaks for R&D investments, grants for innovative projects, and streamlined regulatory pathways for new drug approvals. Building state-of-the-art research infrastructure and facilities will attract top talent and foster collaboration across disciplines. Investing in research institutions, laboratories, and technology parks will create an ecosystem conducive to ground breaking discoveries. Providing support for aspiring entrepreneurs through incubators, accelerators, and venture capital funding will help translate research discoveries into viable businesses. Mentorship programs and networking opportunities can also nurture entrepreneurial talent in the pharmaceutical sector. Establishing partnerships between government agencies, academia, and the private sector can leverage resources and expertise to address key challenges in API discovery and development. Public-private collaborations can lead to innovative solutions and accelerate progress towards common goals.
