Women Empowerment: Issues, Challenges, and Solutions with Focus on Social Support Systems

Author(s): Rajani Suresh Kalode1, Dr. Mahesh Chandrbhan Dabre2

Abstract: Empowering women is important for both social and economic development. Countless schemes have been made by the government to empower the Indian women, but still they have faced such problems as economic dependency, poor education, and societal pressures. Social support systems like PMUY and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana help the women face these issues. PMUY helps in women's health and economic stability by offering free LPG connections which reduces indoor air pollution and household drudgery. It helps to save for girls' education and marriage as long-term investments and provides financial inclusion. However, different barriers to implementation, like the awareness gap, access issues, and bureaucratic delay, remain. This would eventually help in making sustainable women empowerment.
