Abstract: Amiri Baraka was a well-known playwright, poet and activist whose works research on themes of racial identity and social justice. His plays haunt reviewer systematic operation and champion the strength of power and action. He was a central figure in the Black Art Movement in 1960s and 1970s. With the help of writing tool, he explores the theme of race who identify gender trouble and social justice. His early work affected by beat generation which evolved into more political charge. Afro centric expression accepted Black nationalism and Marxism. Baraka’s relationship with women was good. He was a kind hearted person but the topic of women empowerment is some time complex and contradictory. Throughout his career he gave a lot of attention to Racism and Gender trouble. Some of his works criticized for the depiction of woman. In 1970s Baraka’s political perspective evolved through Black nationalism to Marxism due to this reason his view on gender and woman role in society was changed. He tackles to acknowledge the convergence of race, class and gender operation. Some of his works and public statement exhibit a greater recognition to the value of woman liberation. Baraka helped woman writer and activists. Within the Black Art Movement, he highlights the struggle of male and woman writers. He supports for community based on activism which included for equal participation of male and women. And he acknowledges the contribution of women in the fight for black liberation. As a result, he knows the importance of male and woman in society.
