Radical Feminism in Shulamith Firestone’s: The Dialectic of Sex

Abstract: Shulamith Firestone’s ‘The Dielectic of Sex’ is a discussion on radical feminism. Firestone was an American radical feminist belonging to the second wave feminism. She sometimes had quite rebellious and pointed views. Known for her innovative and creative thinking shulamith earned fame very early on in her life.

The book dialectic of sex proved to be very famous in the 1970s American society. Popularly known as Shuli, she believed in absolute freedom for the female gender, her book demands complete equality of gender. She was a very strong supporter and activist in the feminist movement.

The book she undertook to write at the age of 25 is marked as the masterpiece of second wave feminism. It shocks the readers with the very first line, "sex class is so deep as to be invisible".

She has considered and discussed the views of Freud, Marks, Simone da Beauvoir and Engels, and analyses their contribution in feminist movement.
