Women Empowerment – For Empowered Bharat

Abstract: Women Empowerment is a broader term. It refers to the empowerment of women in social, economic & political sphere. It, in true sense, means creating an enabling environment where women have equal access to resource & opportunities in the society. Being half of the country’s population, they can’t be left behind in path to development. A country & society can prosper when its women enjoy equal status & opportunities compare to their male counterpart. The paper highlights the meaning and need of women empowerment in India. Paper also talks about the role of Government in Women Empowerment. In a patriarchal society like India, women empowerment is not an easy task, it faces resistance from every quarter of the society, so in the following paper challenges to women empowerment are also analysed & discussed. The main theme of the paper is to discuss the importance of Women Empowerment for country like India which is a seeing a rapid economic growth. Women currently are thriving in each & every sphere, so their contribution towards the prosperity of the nation can’t be ignored. In fact, their contribution & effort should be highlighted. The paper also discusses the Governments’ initiative in this direction. The paper establishes a positive co-relation between women empowerment & an empowered nation. Women have been experiencing the shackles of enslavement for years, now the time has come to regard women as an important asset to the society & the nation. The overall focus of the paper is to deeply analyse the concept of women empowerment, why it is needed, what are the challenges & what can be done ahead for this.
