Abstract: Scriptwriting has emerged as a dynamic medium that bridges literature, drama, and visual storytelling. For undergraduate students of English, particularly in the sixth semester, studying scriptwriting not only enhances creative expression but also provides practical knowledge relevant to fields like media, entertainment, and education. This research examines the inclusion of scriptwriting in the Common Minimum Syllabus (Common Minimum Syllabus) designed for BA English programs in Semester 6, contextualizing it within academic frameworks. It analyzes the role of scriptwriting in developing critical thinking, linguistic proficiency, and collaborative skills among students.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, this paper underscores the significance of scriptwriting as a pedagogical tool and explores its interplay with the overarching objectives of the English Syllabus. It also identifies gaps in the current syllabus and proposes enhancements to ensure a holistic educational experience. Drawing from case studies, academic resources, and Syllabus analysis, the paper aims to highlight scriptwriting as both an artistic endeavor and a pedagogically valuable element. Finally, it advocates for Syllabus designers to prioritize practical, creative, and Inclusion of Script Writing as a topic in the Common Minimum Syllabus of BA English Semester sixth paper literature in film and media studies.
