Abstract: The rise of women entrepreneurs has introduced a novel viewpoint in the realm of entrepreneurship. Women's entrepreneurship is closely associated with substantial societal and economic advantages. Although women constitute more than fifty percent of India's population, their engagement in entrepreneurial endeavours is somewhat limited. The study aims to examine the prevalence of women entrepreneurship, referred to as Shepreneurs, in India to comprehend the concept, profile, and dynamics associated with this term. Sex-disaggregated databases on women entrepreneurship, supplied by the Government of India and international publications, are analysed to track the progress of women entrepreneurs in India. The literature study uncovered a varied profile of women entrepreneurs in India. During the establishment and operation of their enterprises, people encounter several gender-neutral and gender-specific challenges. Statistics indicate that 70% of the 1.4 billion impoverished individuals worldwide are anticipated to be women. Women have recently recognised the advantages of entrepreneurship and are leveraging this knowledge to their benefit. In industrialised nations, there has been a notable growth in the number of women engaged in self-employment (Choubey Bajpai, 2014). Entrepreneurial endeavours in India are somewhat limited, predominantly centred on Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra. There is a pressing necessity to analyse governmental directives and initiatives that could improve the conditions for women entrepreneurs in India.
